Extreme Makeover
Yep. Extreme Makeover: Home Edition has come to Milbridge, Maine! Events like this one tend to bring the Mainah’s out in full force, especially when it’s for a good cause. I’m very happy for the schoolteachers who won this opportunity!
My brothers were both involved in the roof part of the project, and a number of local people also donated their time and energy to the project. It’s amazing how much can get done in a short amount of time when everyone pulls together.
Today was the day when they brought the family home and “MOVED THAT TRUCK!” Unfortunately, I had to work, so I missed it, but the rest of my family were there. Quite an emotional thing I was told. Look for the episode to air on tv sometime in January.
Now…………
Not to make light of all the good things Home Makeover has accomplished, BUT
(Not knowing how accurate this really is) it’s been said that this whole project by the time it’s done and the camera crews go home, is going to cost around 2 million dollars.
How many NEW homes could they BUY for people who are even worse off??? Depending on the size and cost of the house, they could help 10-20 people. And they do this once a week??
Just my rant for the day. (And I am still tickled that a family in Maine got this opportunity. I just think more could be done for everyone in this country if the spirit of giving was shared more.)
